Supply chain management spans all movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-progress inventory, and finished goods from point-of-origin to point-of-consumption. Bozarth and Handfield (2008) defines supply chain management as “ Supply chain management is the active management of supply chain activities and relationships in order to maximize customer value and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. |
In simple terms, Supply Chain Management is the flow of goods from raw materials to the end user. This includes components, manufacturer, retailer in the process. The components are plan, source, make, deliver and return. These are considered the key concepts of supply chain management.
